Erase Device (Factory Reset)

Plain-English definition, in the context of supervised iPhone protection.

By Yisrael Schneider, Manager ·

The process of wiping an iPhone back to out-of-box state. On a regular iPhone, erase removes everything and gives a fresh start. On a supervised iPhone enrolled via DEP, erase also removes user data but keeps the device bound to our MDM — meaning the "fresh start" starts with automatic re-supervision.
