Factory Reset

Plain-English definition, in the context of supervised iPhone protection.

By Yisrael Schneider, Manager ·

The process of erasing an iPhone back to its out-of-box state. On a regular iPhone, a factory reset removes all user data, apps, and settings. On a supervised iPhone enrolled via DEP, factory reset also removes all data — but the supervision and MDM enrollment return automatically on first boot. You can't "reset your way out" of Supervised Mode.
